During the negotiations, the parties discussed the current state and prospects of Uzbekistan–Azerbaijani relations, the interaction of the countries within the framework of the Consultative Meetings of the Heads of Central Asian States (CMHCAS), as well as issues related to strengthening cooperation between the think tanks of the two countries.

Director Javlon Vakhabov noted that the signing of the Treaty on Allied Relations between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan in 2024 elevated bilateral cooperation to a new level of quality and dynamism. It was emphasized that the document established a solid political and legal foundation for deepening cooperation in the trade, economic, transport, logistics, and humanitarian spheres, and provided additional momentum for coordinating positions at regional and international platforms.

The IICA Director also highlighted the importance of the seventh Consultative Meeting of the Heads of Central Asian States held in Tashkent, noting Azerbaijan’s historic accession to this format of cooperation. According to him, this opens new opportunities for expanding trade, economic, and investment ties, developing transport corridors between Central Asia and the South Caucasus, and strengthening humanitarian cooperation.
In turn, CAIR Chairman Farid Shafiyev highly praised the role of the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, in fostering open dialogue among neighboring states, building a stable Central Asia, and strengthening the region’s international agency.

The parties reaffirmed the importance of expanding cooperation between the analytical centers of the two countries. It was noted that active expert dialogue would enhance the quality of analytical support for bilateral cooperation and contribute to the further deepening of relations between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.
Priority areas of cooperation include the organization of joint events for the exchange of expert views, as well as conducting joint research on issues of mutual interest, followed by the publication of the results in joint editions.
Following the meeting, IICA and CAIR signed a Joint Action Plan for 2026, formalizing new areas of cooperation and partnership.
