During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state of Uzbekistan–Azerbaijani relations and exchanged views on the prospects for further development of bilateral cooperation, including within the framework of the Consultative Meetings of the Heads of State of Central Asia. They also explored opportunities for closer interaction between the analytical and research institutions of the two countries.
In his opening remarks, Javlon Vakhabov highlighted the strong momentum in the development of relations between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, as well as the significant role of the leaders of both countries in strengthening allied relations. He emphasized the importance of the historic decision on Azerbaijan’s accession to the Consultative Meetings format, adopted at the Tashkent Summit in November of last year. The Director of IICA noted that this step was logical and significant, given the longstanding and successful cooperation between Azerbaijan and the countries of Central Asia.

For his part, Rector Urkhan Alekperov underscored the high level of mutual trust and constructive engagement between the leaders of the two states, which provides positive momentum for the entire spectrum of bilateral relations. He emphasized that strengthening cooperation between the two research and academic institutions would contribute to the further development of humanitarian ties and the establishment of sustainable expert-level contacts.

Following the meeting, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed, providing for the development of long-term partnership between IICA and the Academy of Public Administration.

The Academy of Public Administration, established in 1999, is the only higher educational institution under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan that provides education, retraining, and advanced professional development for civil servants, as well as conducts scientific and analytical activities in the field of public administration.
