The discussion focused on the current state and opportunities for further strengthening Uzbekistan–Indonesia cooperation, both bilaterally and within the Central Asia–ASEAN framework, as well as on expanding engagement between think tanks from the two regions.
Javlon Vakhabov noted that ASEAN will mark its 60th anniversary in 2027, emphasizing that the Association’s experience is of particular relevance for Central Asian countries.
He stressed that regular expert dialogue between analytical centers of Central Asia and ASEAN could contribute to developing practical proposals for advancing interregional partnership.
In turn, Yose Damuri underlined the important role of expert and analytical engagement in strengthening Uzbekistan–Indonesia relations. According to him, regular exchanges between leading research institutions of the two countries would help deepen mutual understanding, identify new areas of cooperation, and develop practical recommendations on issues of shared interest.
Following the meeting, both sides expressed interest in expanding practical cooperation between IICA and CSIS, including through analytical forums within the Central Asia–ASEAN format.
