The IICA at the International Conference in Budapest
Turkic-Western Geopolitical Dialogue titled "Natural Economic Allies: Forging Turkic-Western Economic Cooperation” was held in Budapest. The conference was organized by the Danube Institute, a prominent Hungarian think tank.

The event brought together officials and diplomats from the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), as well as experts from Turkic countries, the EU and the USA. The International Institute for Central Asia was represented by Daniyar Kurbanov, the Head of Department.

The agenda included addresses by high-level speakers, ambassadors of OTS countries to Budapest. Panel discussions were held on strengthening the partnership between Turkic states and the West amid the current unstable international environment. Special emphasis was placed on Hungary's role in this process.

A key point of discussion was the growing significance of the OTS nations. Situated between Europe and Asia, they are evolving into crucial actors for ensuring energy security, maintaining trade links, and supplying critical minerals.

The Executive Director of the Danube Institute, István Kiss, highlighted Hungary's role as a bridge between East and West, and between the Turkic world, Europe, and the United States. He also emphasized that Hungary has actively promoted the European Union's recognition of the importance of Central Asia and the Turkic states, as well as the necessity of engaging with them on the basis of mutual trust and respect.

Participants received a briefing covering the main results of Uzbekistan's chairmanship in the 7th Consultative Meeting of the Heads of Central Asian States and the Tashkent Summit of the region's leaders, as well as the country’s key initiatives within the framework of C5 and the OTS.
