During the meeting, the parties discussed opportunities for developing cooperation between IICA and Chatham House’s Queen Elizabeth II Academy, including the launch of joint educational initiatives and fellowship programs for research fellows.
Particular attention was paid to opportunities for establishing sustainable mechanisms for professional exchange and training a new generation of experts on regional and international affairs.
Javlon Vakhabov emphasized that partnership with the Queen Elizabeth II Academy opens up broad opportunities for deepening research cooperation, enhancing the professional capacity of researchers, and integrating Central Asia more actively into global expert networks. According to him, such formats of cooperation will contribute to strengthening the region’s research potential and promoting its agenda at the international level.
For her part, Khrystia Melekh noted Chatham House’s growing interest in Central Asia and underlined the importance of cooperation with IICA in this area.
The parties expressed interest in developing both short-term and long-term fellowship programs for IICA staff, including through the establishment of tailored initiatives focused on Central Asia.
According to the parties, the implementation of such programs would not only expand the participants’ expert knowledge and practical skills, but also create a sustainable platform for the exchange of experience, joint research, and the development of proposals on key issues of regional development and cooperation between Central Asia and the UK.
