The Head of Kyrgyzstan expressed gratitude to the WB for its support in the development of the country's economy, noting that the financial institution is one of the leading partners with whom Bishkek has been successfully co-operating in all key areas for 30 years.
- Japarov highly appreciated the WB's contribution to the socio-economic development of Kyrgyzstan. Over the past two years, high rates of economic growth have been achieved (9% in 2022 and 6.2% in 2023). These are the highest rates for the last 10 years. In 2023, Kyrgyzstan's GDP reached 1.2 trillion soms ($13.7 billion) for the first time in the history of the country.
The President said that against the background of global problems related to climate change, the most important task of the state is the development of "green" technologies, in particular hydropower. Currently, the Kambar-Ata-1 HPP construction project is one of the largest energy projects in Central Asia.
- Japarov expressed confidence that the WB will retain a leading role in promoting this project, which opens up additional opportunities for attracting resources from other international financial institutions.
The Kyrgyz leader also focused on the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project, which is an important project in the transport sector for Kyrgyzstan.
In turn, WB Executive Director D. Favre noted with satisfaction that co-operation with Kyrgyzstan is at a high level. In recent years, the Kyrgyz Republic has achieved significant development and high results.
- Favre reported on the readiness to support the promotion of priority areas, in particular, the WB provides support in the field of energy - the project to prepare a feasibility study of "Kambar-Ata HPP-1".
